artofmarc is the independent design consultancy of Jamaican art director Marc James. Working globally with a network of expert collaborators, we provide creative design services for Multilateral organizations and NGOs. We have crafted memorable creative for impact in 35 countries across Africa, Asia, Europe, North America and the Caribbean, and in over 7 languages.

We commit our design expertise to helping people who are making a difference in their communities and around the world. Our work involves guiding communications from planning and concept ideation to design execution across print, television, mobile and web platforms. We offer solutions in the form of branding and campaigns, graphics and publications, products and packaging, exhibitions and events, infographics and illustrations, animation, and social media micro content.

Our people

Lead consultant

Marc James is an award-winning art director and design consultant. A self-taught creative, he studied Geography at the University of the West Indies, where he completed his BSc. He began his professional journey as a web designer in 2006. Throughout his 15 year career as a creative professional, he has built deep expertise, working in various fields of design from traditional print, to animation and developing interactive experiences. Working in the advertising industry, he has served in several roles - from interaction designer to creative art director, providing art direction for global brands such as Red Bull, Nestle, Frito-Lay, DHL, Payless Shoesource, Kimberly Clark, and Unilever.

In addition to extensive advertising experience, Marc worked for 2 years with the INTASAVE-CARIBSAVE group, an international non-profit, providing creative direction on climate change and sustainable development projects across the globe. Working independently, he has consulted for UNESCO, The Nature Conservancy, Caribbean Development Bank, Rotary, Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation, and the University of the West Indies.

His identity work has been seen worldwide, having crafted the visual identity (VI) for the World Press Freedom Day global celebrations in 2016, which served as a day of reflection among media professionals and as a reminder to governments of the need to respect their commitment to press freedom. He would go on to design the VI for the 2017,2018, and 2021 global celebrations, producing collateral and signage in over 7 languages.

Finally, Marc swapped his 9-5 for a 24/7, dedicating his full time and effort to artofmarc. He now spends his days living and working in Kingston Jamaica, focused on creating impactful visuals for organizations that want to make a difference in the world.

Dr Donovan Campbell is an Environment & Development consultant who focuses on environmental change and human development issues in the Caribbean. Donovan works with interdisciplinary research teams to explore multi-scale socio-economic, governance and environmental conditions that shape vulnerability and capacity to adapt to climate change. He is actively involved in several collaborative and transdisciplinary research initiatives focused on climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction, biodiversity conservation and sustainable development across the Caribbean. Tannecia James is an award-winning communication practitioner with over a decade of experience in media productions, working with clients to develop content supporting projects on health, culture, education, business and agriculture. She has scripted and produced features for international NGO’s University Research Co. ACDI/VOCA, Sistren Theatre Group, JSIF, and features for the regional “Live UP” HIV awareness campaign.

She is a Joint/Japan World Bank Scholarship alumna and University of Reading (UK) alumnus with an MSc in communication for innovation and development. Tannecia has also received training in advanced television production in Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago and Cuba.
